A slice bounded by a non-straight cut is not rectangular: take its bounding box, then make everything outside the region transparent. Masking paints transparency, never white, so it composites invisibly on the viewer's sheet.

Done: the stepped slices from the polyline-cuts issue render with clean notches and no leaked ink from the neighbouring system.
